"The HoloNet is nothing but propaganda for politicians. It's not exactly known for its accuracy."
"I don't know. 'Hero with no fear.' I thought I looked pretty dashing there."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker reflect on the title[3]

The title "Hero With No Fear" was a moniker given to Jedi Knight and General Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars.[1] After leaping to the aid of Obi-Wan Kenobi during a high-stakes mission on Cato Neimoidia[3] in 22 BBY,[2] transmissions of the heavily-publicized event were circulated across the HoloNet. To the annoyance of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, reporters from organizations such as HoloNet News glorified Skywalker and his actions, bestowing the "Hero With No Fear" title upon him as an act of wartime propaganda.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The "Hero With No Fear" title was reintroduced to Star Wars canon in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition.[1] The title was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends article "Republic HoloNet News Core Edition 15:01:03," published on Star Wars Insider 72.[4]

  2. 2.0 2.1 Brotherhood is set between the beginning of the Clone Wars and the Battle of Christophsis, as the novel's plot involves Anakin Skywalker becoming a Jedi Knight, a rank he attained between those events. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates both events to 22 BBY, Brotherhood must be set in that year.
