"Who can argue with such irrefutable logic?"
―Sector Commander General Lesilk, on Hesoc's request to return to flight status[src]

Hesoc was a male starfighter pilot serving in the Alliance Starfighter Corps during the Galactic Civil War. He flew a T-65 X-wing starfighter and was known as "Hotshot Hesoc" due to his skills in the cockpit. During the Matacorn campaign, Hesoc achieved an impressive tally of twenty-two confirmed kills before being caught by a TIE interceptor during a Tallon Roll maneuver. His X-wing was badly damaged, but he managed to return to base. His right leg had been injured when the fighter was hit, and it had to be removed and replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis. Officially grounded due to injury, Hesoc refused to accept a training post and appealed directly to his Sector Commander, General Lesilk, to be reinstated to flight status. He claimed that, due to only having one leg, his reaction time to a scramble alert would be faster than other pilots, as he would already have one sock and boot on. Lesilk granted his request, and he rejoined his squadron.

Biography

"…far from being a hindrance, the synthetic limb recently received provides me with an actual advantage over other pilots. In the event of a scramble, I can reach my fighter quicker than most given I have one sock and one flight boot already on!"
―Hesoc, in his official appeal to be returned to flight status[src]

Hesoc was a male starfighter pilot in the service of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Starfighter Corps during the Galactic Civil War. He flew an T-65 X-wing starfighter as part of a squadron in General Lesilk's Sector Force. Considered to be an excellent pilot, Hesoc was rumored to consistently alter the enlistment date on his personnel records, setting it back to extend his tour of duty. He was known as "Hotshot Hesoc" during his service.[1]

Part of the Alliance force involved in the Matacorn campaign, Hesoc racked up a kill count of eighteen TIE starfighters and four TIE bombers. However, while engaging a TIE interceptor, Hesoc's fighter was badly damaged when the Imperial fighter caught him while executing a Tallon Roll. Hesoc managed to return the crippled X-wing back to base, but his right leg had been severely injured by the interceptor's attack. It had to be removed and replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis.[1]

After receiving such an injury, Alliance pilots were usually grounded and shifted into a training assignment. Hesoc made it clear to his superiors that he would not accept that, and he appealed directly to the Sector Commander, General Lesilk. In his appeal, Hesoc stated that his cybernetic leg was actually an advantage, claiming that he could reach his starfighter quicker than other pilots during an emergency since he already had one sock and boot on. Lesilk, citing that he could not argue against "irrefutable logic," granted Hesoc's request, returning him to flight status and allowing him to rejoin his squadron.[1]

Personality and traits

Hesoc was considered to be an excellent pilot by his peers and colleagues, a trait that earned him the nickname "Hotshot." He loved flying and would do anything to remain in the cockpit rather than be transferred out to a non-combat role, such as appealing against his grounding after suffering an injury during the Matacorn campaign.[1]

Behind the scenes

Hesoc appeared in Irrefutable Logic, a short text piece in the Heroes & Rogues sourcebook published by West End Games in 1995.
