The Home Defense Strike Force was a smaller strike force hastily assembled by the Galactic Republic from those Venator-class Star Destroyers of the Coruscant Home Fleet that remained in the Coruscant system at the time of the surprise attack by General Grievous's forces. The Home Fleet Strike Group Five was one of the smaller groups organized during the defense of the capital.
