The Uurbahhahvoovv Joiners & Artisans created numerous homemade evacuation pods during the Clone Wars. In the event of a worst-case scenario, the Wookiees planned to use these pods to evacuate their planet.
When Order 66 was issued, Tarfful and Chewbacca took Yoda to such a pod. Yoda left the planet in the pod, and was retrieved by the Sundered Heart.

Description
Edit
It was cobbled together by Wookiee hands via the Uurbahhahvoovv Joiners & Artisans group, with many of its parts being composed from shipwrecks, including its three sublight engines. The fuel tank, sensor pit, and reactor were contained just below the floor of the pod. It also possessed a heatproof hull, which possessed a sturdy construction that reflected the practicality of Wookiee design. It also had curved stabilizer fins to ensure a stable, rifled ascent through the atmosphere. The sensor processor and guidance computer were located at the roof of the escape pod, and it possessed 14 optical sensor windows. It also possessed a built-in distress beacon. The seats were originally utilized for a Wookiee's height, and as such the headrest was placed at a significantly tall height. The seat restraints were also adjustable, and the control panel was located to the right of the occupant. The pod also contained just enough fuel to carry the occupant into interplanetary space.
History
Edit
In 19 BBY, during the late stages of the Clone Wars, several Wookiee defenders, anticipating the likelihood of the Separatist Droid Armies winning the battle, developed and prepared thousands of escape pods for last minute-evacuations, due to the Separatists overrunning the forests and lagoons of Kashyyyk. Although the battle was won by the Galactic Republic in large part due to the arrival of Jedi Master Yoda and his clone contingent, unforeseeable circumstances caused by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine's constituency Order number 66 resulted in the Wookiees Chewbacca and Tarfful leading Yoda to the first escape pod so he'd have a chance to escape. Shortly before boarding, he gave his goodbyes to the Wookiees. The Wookiees then said their goodbyes to Yoda while Yoda departed in the escape pod. In addition, Yoda also deactivated the distress beacon, and instead used his Jedi emergency transmitter. Since it supplied a tiny fraction of the supralight signals beamed between the Republic's public HoloNet arrays, the transmitter ensured he wouldn't be found by the Clone Army. His pod was eventually intercepted by Alderaanian agents searching for surviving Jedi on Coruscant, resulting in Senator Bail Organa recovering Yoda on the Sundered Heart.
Behind the scenes
Edit
This pod is one of two used by Yoda in Revenge of the Sith, and the art department ensured the two were visually different from one another. The scene where Yoda said good-bye to Tarfful and Chewbacca and departed was an homage to the ending of the Steven Spielburg film E.T. the Extraterrestrial.
