The Hortek were a species of predatory humanoids that were covered with bony plates and had long necks and large unblinking eyes. They were among the few predatory races to join the New Republic. They were moderately telepathic, a skill that they developed to predict the actions of their prey. Many Hortek sympathized with the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. The skills of Hortek interrogators were a prized asset of the Alliance Special Forces.

Colonel Ejagga Pakkpekatt, an intelligence officer in the New Republic, was a member of this species.
