Characteristics
Edit
These vessels were larger and more powerful than the later Acclamator-class assault ship, but they did not have trans-galactic hyperdrive capability, thus limiting them to localised conflicts.[1] Unlike the standardized Republic Judicial Forces warships, these vessels were several kilometers long.[2]
History
Edit
Centuries after the end of the New Sith Wars, rich, heavily industrialized Core sectors like Humbarine built heavy warships to defend themselves,[1] while the downsized Republic Navy[4] and the poorer, rimward sectors[2] operated a large amount of smaller vessels, like the Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser.[5] This situation lasted until the Clone Wars,[2] when Humbarine allowed its sector defense navy to become part of the Republic Military, being organized under the Republic's war council, and depriving the sector of many of its defense assets. This contributed to the downfall of the area, when the CIS invaded and infiltrated many worlds.[3]
Behind the scenes
Edit
Based on an official interview with Curtis Saxton at TheForce.net, Humbarine sector warships were multi-kilometer long vessels, as were the warships employed by other rich and industrialized sectors in the Galactic Republic.[2]
