The hunter-killer droid was the predecessor to the B1 battle droid. They were battle droids employed by the Trade Federation prior to and during the Stark Hyperspace War. They had square heads and were equipped with blasters, but had poor targeting abilities.

Wookiee Jedi Master Tyvokka was killed after Trade Federation Minister Nute Gunray ordered his hunter-killer droid bodyguards to open fire on him.
