A hydromech droid was a droid designed to locate and extract water from underground sources such as aquifers. Appendages included a retractable vertical sounding array and filtered moisture extractor. Sediment was dispersed from a top-mounted exhaust pipe. It also performed maintenance duties on GX-8 water vaporators.

One particular model used on Tatooine was the M-HYD binary hydromech droid.

Behind the scenesEdit

The Star Wars Customizable Card Game first identified this type of droid as a "hydroponics" droid, however, the term "hydromech" was later coined for the Databank.
