A hypercomm was a form of hyperwave communications. It could be active on multiple channels at once. It transmitted audio information only and did not use holocom devices. Hypercomms were used by Imperial forces during the Galactic Civil War by Imperial probe droids and by Darth Vader. Lord Vader used a hypercomm transmitter during his search for the Rebels to communicate instantly with Emperor Palpatine. It was also rumored that there was a hypercomm installed in the Emperor's personal shuttle.
