I2-CG droids were a model of droid[2] which bore some resemblance to the R-series line of astromech droids. The plating on their barrel shaped bodies was white, while their domed heads had silver plating with red detailing.[1] Around thirty years after the Battle of Endor, the Abednedo laborer Roodown dragged a sled containing three non-functional I2-CG droids[2] through Niima Outpost on the planet Jakku, passing the scavenger Rey as he did so.[1] At some point Rey drew a picture of Roodown and the three droids in her survival guide.[3]

Behind the scenesEdit

I2-CG droids were first created for the Imperial Sourcebook, a supplement written by Greg Gorden for West End Games Star Wars Legends Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game that was released in 1989. The droids were canonized when they appeared in the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which was released in 2015. They were not named in the film itself but were identified as I2-CG units in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo and released in conjunction with the film.
