[edit] Biography

IG-72 did not join the collective IG-88 personality, however, preferring to keep his own programming. He helped the IG-88 collective escape, then broke off and left in a separate ship. In his later career as a bounty hunter, he was very independent and autonomous, and did not work well in groups. He was commonly seen wielding a modified sniper rifle.

IG-72 also once captured two IG-100 MagnaGuards on behalf of the scientist Treun Lorn, to be used as part of Nycolai Kinesworthy's research with the remains of the dreaded Separatist General Grievous. In conjunction with the project, which resulted in the creation of N-K Necrosis. These two captured droids were renamed NK-3.

IG-72 self-destructed on Tatooine during the hunt for Adar Tallon, killing Imperial Prefect Orun Depp.

[edit] Behind the scenes

A reused picture of IG-88 used to represent IG-72 on the cover of Tatooine Manhunt.

The cover of Tatooine Manhunt displays a group of bounty hunters, presumably meant to represent the ones featured in the book. This picture was originally concept art from The Empire Strikes Back, showing the group of bounty hunters hired by Darth Vader posing on Bespin. Thus, the picture actually does not depict IG-72, but IG-88 (who is, of course, almost identical in appearance.)
