- "If our absence has been reported, out identichips will trigger alarms all over the terminal."
- ―Galen Erso
An identichip,[2] or an identification card, was a card used to verify an individual's identity. Imperial citizens were required to carry their identification at all times.
TIE fighter pilots carried a white ID card used to verify their identities. They placed the card into the slot of an astromech droid until they got the confirmation beep. Sabine Wren used one to get past security at the Skystrike Academy.[3]
As the Galactic Empire tightened control of planetary trade routes, blank ID chips became priceless, and individuals such as Dvorad were known to have obtained a supply of them. Enfys Nest tricked Tobias Beckett and his crew into stealing Dvorad's supply and delivering them into her hands, but Beckett destroyed his ship to prevent her from getting the ID chips.[4]
