|Chronological and political information|
Ilyan Regus was a Human male Grand Moff of the Sith Empire and head of Operation Dark Ice, a plan to use the Adegan crystals of Ilum to develop stealth technology for the Empire. However, Jedi Master Jaric Kaedan stood in the way, bringing in Duros shock troopers to harass Imperial operations. Though Kaedan was killed, he had tasked Kaleesh mercenaries to guard the Empire's only crystal mine. Regus desired to have the Kaleesh army destroyed, but Darth Malgus reminded that the "victory" on Corellia cost nearly a tenth of Imperial forces and that it'd be a waste of resources, and suggested challenging the Kaleesh leader to win their loyalty, an idea that Regus was firmly opposed to.
Though the crystals were secured, the fleet needed to land safely and Republic anti-air guns were preventing that. Though the guns were destroyed and Admiral Shai defeated, Malgus chose to betray the Empire to create his own. Regus convened an emergency war council to discuss what to do about Malgus.
Grand Moff Regus has spent much of his career overshadowed by the reputation and career of his predecessor, Grand Moff Kilran. But in the wake of Kilran's death, Regus has found himself promoted to the limelight, at the head of the Empire's most crucial military operation since the Sacking of Coruscant.
Personality and traitsEdit
A patriot and a traditionalist, Grand Moff Regus believes in decisive, precision strikes that debilitate and demoralize the enemy--and in an Empire served by men of pure vision and pure bloodline. He is old enough to remember a time before the Empire returned to the galaxy, before Imperials used aliens as anything other than slaves, and he was raised on stories of ancient Imperial glory. He firmly believes that any military advantage would overrule the need for reform, as evidenced by his obsession with the Adegan crystals. His traditional beliefs led him to vehemently oppose the Alien Initiatives instituted following the operation on Ilum, which allowed for the induction of aliens into the Imperial Military.
The legends that endure, Regus knows, are of battles fought and won by noble Sith and Imperial soldiers from well-established families with an unquestioned loyalty--loyalty not to the latest rising Dark Council member, but to the Emperor himself.
