The Imperial Dropship Transport, or IDT for short, was a starship used by the military of the Galactic Empire to transport contingents of stormtroopers. It notably allowed to insert Imperial troops within an enemy base. The IDT shared structural similarities[1] with the assault gunships used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars,[2] some of which had been recovered by the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[1]
