"We have reason to believe that Imperial General Otto, stationed at the Imperial base on Lok, may be supplying the explosives being used on the corvette. General Otto is known to be fairly careless, so it would not be surprising if the information you seek was in an unsecured crate or desk somewhere. Seek out his base and return with any information you find."
Master Sergeant Crowley, to a Rebel operative[2]

The Imperial Outpost on Lok was a massive stronghold established by the Galactic Empire as part of their plan to extend their control over less developed worlds.[1]

History[]

"Go disrupt the Imperial base here on Lok. It's commanded by a man named General Otto. I don't think much of him personally. Show him that being on Lok is not an easy assignment."
Han Solo, to a Rebel operative[3]

After the Battle of Yavin, this outpost was commanded by General Otto.[4] At some point, a mercenary warlord led a brutal assault on the outpost. General Otto managed to pushed back the attack and the warlord was captured, ending up in the Imperial Prison of Dathomir.[5]

In 1 ABY,[6] the Empire managed to capture a Rebel Corellian corvette and planed to use fill it with explosives and send it hurtling into Centerpoint Station in the Corellian system. The objective was to have the Rebel Alliance blamed for the attack. As the Rebels suspected General Otto might be supplying the explosives being used on the corvette, Master Sergeant Crowley therefore sent an agent to the Imperial outpost on Lok. The Rebel operative successfully retrieved data including the location of the stolen corvette.[2]

Around the same time, the retired Imperial Naval Captain Boyrake was present in the outpost.[7] Meanwhile, a spacer managed to infiltrate the base and stole a piece of shock trooper armor.[8]

The same year, Han Solo tasked Rebel operatives to disrupt the Imperial outpost to show to the Empire that being on Lok is not an easy assignment. The Rebels infiltrated the base where they shut down the power generators and switched some Imperial banners for Rebel banners. They also attacked General Otto who barely survived the raid.[3]

  6. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
