Indiana was an Alaskan malamute dog owned by George Lucas in the 1970s. Indiana was the inspiration for the character of Chewbacca,[1] and later became the source of Indiana Jones' name.
In the third Indiana Jones movie, Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr. is said to have been nicknamed Indiana after the Jones' dog, from which he had very fond memories.
