Inferno is the sixth novel in the Legacy of the Force series. It is a paperback by Troy Denning and was published on August 28, 2007 by Del Rey. According to Denning in an interview, the book "will feature many of the same characters who survived Tempest—and that Jacen will finally discover who his true enemies really are." War breaks loose in the series with this release. The galaxy has exploded into an all-out civil war, and casualties are mounting on both sides of the conflict. The book includes an interview covering the creation of the Legacy of the Force series, as well as a preview of the next novel in the series, Fury. The audio version was narrated by Marc Thompson.

[edit] Publisher's summary

Luke Skywalker wanted to unify the Jedi Order and bring peace to the universe. Instead, his wife, Mara, lies dead at the hands of an unknown assassin, his wayward nephew Jacen has seized control of the Galactic Alliance, and the galaxy has exploded in all-out civil war.

With Luke consumed with grief, Jacen Solo works quickly to consolidate his power and jumpstart his plan to take over the Jedi. Convinced he's the only one who can save the galaxy, Jacen will do whatever it takes, even ambush his own parents.

With the Rebel confederacy driving deep into the Core to attack Coruscant and the Jedi under siege, Luke must reassert his position. Only he can lead the Jedi through this crisis, but it means solving the toughest problem Luke's ever faced. Does he fight alongside his nephew Jacen, a tyrant who's taken over the GA or does he join the rebels to smash the Galactic Alliance he helped create?

[edit] Amazon.co.uk synopsis

On January 16, 2007, Amazon.co.uk posted a summary of the book on their pre-order page for it. The matter was brought up to Sue Rostoni, who while saying that they had problems with Amazon summaries in the past, did not specifically refute (or even mention) the one posted for Inferno. The events of Sacrifice later seemed to prove the synopsis legitimate. Although the summary was soon removed, apparently at the bidding of Lucasfilm, the text of it was:

The galaxy is in turmoil due to spreading and increasingly violent civil war - and the Solo/Skywalker clan is in shock after the horrifying murder of one of its most beloved members. Jacen Solo, now a full Sith Lord, has seized control of the Galactic Alliance. Luke Skywalker's judgement is clouded by grief, even as he faces his most momentous decision since becoming Grand Master of the Jedi order: whether to support Jacen's illegitimate government against the forces threatening Coruscant...or to join the Rebel Confederacy and take arms against the Galactic Alliance he helped forge.

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • In a discussion between Alema Rar and the Sith on Korriban, the leader of the Sith enclave made references to the collective master of the Sith. He told Alema of how the Jedi-turned-Sith Vergere had been fascinated by the master's vision of "One Sith" as opposed to keeping to the tradition of the "Rule of Two." Star Wars Legacy 18: Claws of the Dragon, Part 5 confirms that this is Darth Krayt, making this the first time that events of the Legacy comics are referenced in the novels.
