Formally the SpecForce 5th Regiment, the Infiltrators were the elite commandos of Rebel Alliance Special Forces. Chosen for both skill and motivation, Infiltrators were tasked with the riskiest missions. Capable of entering the most heavily guarded Imperial installations, starships and planets, Infiltrators acted as saboteurs, abducters, rescue operators, spies and assassins. They also took part in invasions, armed with sniper rifles and grenades for destruction of vehicles and structures.

[edit] History

"Causing damage from the outside is good, but causing damage from within is fatal"
―Star Wars: Empire At War website

While commando missions were an important part of Alliance military operations from its foundation, the creation of the 5th Regiment under Colonel Andrephan Stormcaller marked SpecForce's commitment to an elite commando unit.

The dedication paid off, through key missions like Kyle Katarn's single-handed infiltration of the Imperial base on Danuta and theft of partial Death Star plans. Other missions, like the abduction of Imperial personnel at Bevel III, were failures.

The Infiltrators were dissolved after the Battle of Endor.
