The Intelligentsia were one of the two main divisions of Yinchorri society, the other being the warrior caste. They were the natural rulers of the Yinchorri, and had a great affinity for technology. They made up the membership of the Council of Elders. They were somewhat paranoid and belligerent.

Members of the intelligentsia included Sothek, Kardek, and Jorek.

Intelligentsia is a Russian word (literally transcribed as "intelligentsiya"), a plural form meaning "intellectuals." The word came into popular international usage during social movements in Europe in the 19th century.
