During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Republic Core World of Corellia came under attack. The assault focused on the planetary capital of Coronet City, and resulted in a communications blackout between Corellia and the rest of the Republic. The loss of communications prevented the Republic from knowing who orchestrated the attack, whether it was Sith agent or independent terrorists.^[1]

The battle ultimately ended with the Imperials capturing and controlling Corellia. This defeat was a heavy one for the Republic, and during the Second Great Galactic War that succeeded the Cold War, Corellia was reclaimed by the Republic.
