Ion Team was a unit of clone commandos attached to the 22nd Air Combat Wing.

They fought at the Battle of Deko Neimoidia alongside Jedi General Roan Shryne. They were later dispatched from Boz Pity to the Battle of Murkhana.

Ion Team refused to execute Roan Shryne, Bol Chatak, and Padawan Olee Starstone when they received Order 66 from Chancellor Palpatine, believing it to be a false enemy signal. They then saved the Jedi from being ambushed by the forces of Commander Salvo by setting up a counter-ambush and allowing them to escape.

As a result, Darth Vader killed two members of the team, but Captain Climber and Trace escaped into the forested hills of Murkhana. Vader ordered his men to hunt the commandos down and return them to him alive, which was accomplished, even though the bodies were supposedly never found, as reported to Vader by a shocktrooper just after he decapitated Bol Chatak.
