The system contained the spaceport planet Ione, which had an indigenous population of about 1 billion.
In 3 ABY, the Star Destroyers Avenger and Stalker, temporarily detached from Death Squadron as part of the search for the Rebel Alliance new base, dispatched a number of probe droids from the Ione system to nearby Allyuen, Hoth and Tokmia.[3][2]
