The Iteration was a clone of the Jedi Knight Jaden Korr that was created by the resurgent Sith Order One Sith on the planet Korriban, as part of a plot to allow the Sith to infiltrate the New Jedi Order. In 41.5 ABY, on the orders of the Chagrian Sith Lord Darth Wyyrlok, the Umbaran Sith agent Nyss Nenn awakened the Iteration and used a mindspear, an ancient Rakatan biotechnological device, to imbue some of Korr's memories into the clone. Nenn then placed the clone into stasis and departed from Korriban with the clone, planning to track down the real Korr and to use another mindspear to transfer Korr's consciousness into the Iteration. The clone could then take Korr's place within the Jedi Order and be activated by the Sith at a later date.

Nenn tracked Korr to a Rakatan construct in the Unknown Regions and the Umbaran re-awakened the Iteration. The clone encountered and immobalized Korr, and it transferred the Jedi's consciousness into a mindspear. However, the Iteration was confronted by Korr's Jedi apprentice Marr Idi-Shael, who transferred Korr's consciousness from the mindspear to the Iteration, before the clone was ready to receive the memories. The Iteration then re-awoke with Korr's consciousness and mind inside himself, and he remembered nothing of his clone heritage.
