The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

The Iyra species of the planet F'tral used a language that had both spoken and written forms. In writing, the language employed characters composed of curves and dots.[2] In the Iyra tongue, the word F'tral meant "water." Accordingly, F'tral was the name of the aquatic planet that served as the Iyra homeworld.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The Iyra's native tongue is mentioned indirectly in Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, a sourcebook for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game system from West End Games. The book, written by Troy Denning and first published in 1989, notes that F'tral means "water" in the Iyra's language, but it fails to give the name of that language.[1] The 1995 sourcebook Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens — Enemies and Allies is told from the point of view of an Iyra sentientologist named Tem Eliss. The scientist's signature provides a graphical depiction of Iyra script.[2]
