The Jakelians were a sentient species from the planet Jakelia.

When the Taung set out to conquer what was to become Mandalorian Space, the Jakelians welcomed them as their new overlords and thus were spared of destruction. The Mandalorians adopted their edged weapons.

Members of this vasal species were allowed to become Mandalorians after the reforms of Mandalore the Ultimate opened up the ranks of the warrior caste to those non-Taung that had proved themselves in battle and upheld the Mandalorian warrior code.
