- "It's not a difficult language at all, Master Luke. Somewhat like the Janguine tongue of the jungle barbarians of—"
- ―C-3PO
Janguine was a language used by[1] a species[2] of jungle-dwelling barbarians on the planet Janguine. The language fell into disuse[1] approximately 300 years before the Yuuzhan Vong War[2] that began in 25 ABY,[3] when it was absorbed by the planet's Mooloolian mountain tribes.[1]
Upon first hearing the Yuuzhan Vong language, the protocol droid C-3PO found that it was easy to understand due to its similarity to the Janguine language, but he doubted that the Yuuzhan Vong hailed from Janguine.[1] In the process of researching the origins of the Yuuzhan Vong, scholars from the Institute for Sentient Studies attempted to follow up on C-3PO's observations, but they proved to be a dead end.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Janguine was first mentioned in the 1999 novel The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime, written by R. A. Salvatore.[1]
