Jedi Coalition

The Jedi Coalition was a coalition government between the New Jedi Order and the Alliance-in-exile, along with Admiral Natasi Daala and the Maw Irregular Fleet. It was officially formed by Luke Skywalker after the Battle of Kashyyyk in response to Darth Caedus's tyrannical rule of the Galactic Alliance. Their objective was to remove Solo from power so they could peacefully end the Second Galactic Civil War.

[edit] Withdrawal at Kuat

The Battle of Kuat had been going on for nearly a week. Jacen's plan to finally win the battle was to have the Jedi in their StealthX starfighters to crush the Confederation fleet. While talking with his fellow Jedi, Luke tried to come up with a plan of what action the Jedi should take. There was nothing to arrest Jacen for and he didn't want to support the Confederation. But the Jedi couldn't be pushed anymore from Jacen, something needed to be done. Luke asked the Jedi when the line was crossed. But the rest of the Jedi supported Luke's actions and said the line wasn't crossed until he said so. Soon after that, Cilghal entered the room and told Luke that Chief of State Cal Omas had been killed and it was Ben that did it. The line was officially crossed and Luke confronted his nephew and after an argument about if Jacen ordered Ben to assassinate Omas, Luke informed Jacen that the Jedi would no longer support him. Jacen then threatened to kill the Jedi he was holding on Ossus, and Luke told him he would be returning to his StealthX and left. It seemed to Jacen that Luke's withdrawal from the GA was not official and was glad to have the Jedi back in the battle plan. After the Jedi launched he reached out to the Jedi and urged them to attack, they responded with a wave of anger and then left the system. Jacen then realized that the Jedi had deserted him, and even though the battle was won it took much longer to finish and had cost many lives.

[edit] The Battle of Kashyyyk

After Kuat, Luke led the Council Masters as he joined Han and Leia at Kashyyyk to address the Rock Council. He informed them that the murder of Cal Omas although carried out by his son, was arranged by Jacen and requested that the Wookiees join their Coalition against Jacen. After being informed by Ben that the Jedi were on Kashyyyk, Jacen planned to give the Wookiees an opportunity to turn over his parents and the Jedi which he knew they would refuse. When the fleet arrived a squadron of Owools approached and listened to Caedus's terms. After they refused he would have justification for burning Kashyyyk, which would attract the Confederation away from the core. After he ordered the bombardment of the planet, the Owools began their run on the ship. With the Wookiee Jedi Lowbacca leading the squadron, the Owools launched a single shadow bomb. Ben Skywalker was next to Caedus and on the bridge walkway and, moments before the shadow bomb hit the bridge, attempted to strike Caedus down. Ben failed to kill Jacen, and the Dark Lord then attacked Ben with Force lightning and put him in the Embrace of Pain, where he would try to turn his cousin to the dark side.

On Kashyyyk, Han and Leia left for Hapes in order to enlist the support Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo. At the same time Luke began to ready much of the New Jedi Order for their assault against the Galactic Alliance forces in a wing of StealthXs. Skywalker led the Night Blades squadron on a raid on the Anakin Solo, hoping to eliminate Jacen and destroy the turbolaser batteries firing on the planet. The Wookiee fleet was still organizing which left the Jedi as the planet's only defenders. Caedus flew out in his own StealthX to shoot down Skywalker and his twin sister, Jaina Solo. The Jedi suffered many casualties, but Luke managed to fake his own death and land upon the Anakin Solo, disabling the long-range turbolasers and engaged his nephew in a fierce duel. The fight between Grand Master and Dark Lord of the Sith was extremely vicious and left both very wounded, but Luke had the upper hand in the fight and spared Caedus after Ben ruthlessly stabbed him with a vibroblade. He believed that killing him would result in his son falling to the dark side and left.

[edit] Parley on the Dragon Queen

After the duel, Tenel Ka arrived with her fleet and saw that her lover was in fact burning Kashyyyk. After Jacen denied the surrender, she ordered the Confederation and Hapan fleets that surrounded Jacen to attack. It seemed certain that Jacen along with the Fifth Fleet would be destroyed. But the arrival of Alema Rar and her battle mediation combined with Caedus's allowed for him to escape. Afterwards the Confederation and Jedi forces met on the Dragon Queen to discuss the stance of the Jedi, Wookiee and Hapan forces in the war. The Jedi stressed that they would not side with the Confederation, but would form their own faction dedicated to removing Jacen from power so the Galactic Alliance could be properly ruled once more. The Hapans and Wookies also did not agree with the Confederation so they joined Luke's new faction. The Jedi Coalition was officially formed and they agreed not to interfere with the Confederation and stated that they would return to the Alliance once Jacen was removed from office. Han and Leia then gave permission for both organizations to assassinate their son.

[edit] Ambush in the Undercity

Afterwards, Luke officially took his son Ben as his apprentice and set up a temporary headquarters for the Jedi and other Coalition members in an abandoned Imperial base on Endor. Knowing that action needed to be taken against Jacen, he charged Kyp Durron with making the plan. Kyp informed Luke of his plan to capture Jacen outside the Senate Building and then the team would escape in the undercity with Jacen as their captive while a fake escape shuttle is used as a diversion to lead security away. Kyp told Luke that if they couldn’t capture Jacen they would kill him. Luke reluctantly agreed. After meeting the teams guide through the undercity, Seha Dorvald a former traitor of the order who spied for Jacen, he approved the plan. Although Kyp wanted Luke to lead the ambush, Luke immediately refused believing he would attack in hatred and appointed Kyle Katarn as the leader. The team was made up of Katarn, Valin Horn, Thann Mithric, Kolir Hu'lya and Seha. The team travelled to Coruscant and planned for Seha to plant a tracking device on Jacens cloak using the force so at the very least they could track his movements. The mission was only a partial success. Seha was able to plant the device on Jacen but at a price. Jacen was now a powerful Dark Lord of the Sith and emerged from the fight victorious after decapitating Mithric and stabbing Kyle Katarn through the chest. He defeated the team even though he was still wounded from his duel with Luke. The GAG troopers arrived and completely devastated the escape shuttle. Seha and Horn managed to drag Katarn to safety and escaped with the rest of the team.

[edit] Luke sheds his grief

After hearing the news that Alema Rar was dead from Han and Leia Luke believed that the killer of his wife Mara Jade Skywalker was no longer a threat to him, and no longer a threat to his family. Luke then feels a touch of regret-unlike Jacen, Alema had insanity to blame for the evils she perpetrated. If she had been able to accept help, she might have remained a force for calmness and order.

On the outpost roof, Luke meditated and opened himself to the Force and felt the life around him, the vitality of all the growing things. He still felt that the Force offered him no guidance, no visions of his enemies, and no glimpses of his future. He wasn’t disturbed by any of this. Perhaps it meant that there was no future to glimpse. Luke found himself to be unworried by the thought. Ben arrived to see his father and settled directly opposite Luke, assuming the same meditation pose. Ben didn’t speak, and he didn’t relax into proper meditation. Luke could read Ben's emotions easily and felt restlessness, concern, and an unusual degree of mental focus. Eventually Ben was restless but still didn't speak, and Luke could feel him becoming calmer and more settled. Luke continued to wait. Clearly Ben was not willing to be drawn out. Luke then asked Ben if he thought something was wrong with him. Ben asked where his energy was, why he wasn't acting like himself and still not truly leading the order. He wasn't like the old Luke Skywalker, he was merely directing the Jedi instead of taking charge. Luke then stated that people had a false impression of his capabilities from when he was younger and had blind luck, that he wasn't truly special and should probably begin grooming a new Grand Master. Ben then realized how extremely depressed his father was and that he was near suicidal. He wanted to be dead and at peace with his wife Mara Jade Skywalker. When Ben confronted his father about his feelings Luke at first thought it was ridiculous, but after Ben continued to press him about it he felt anger but then realized that his son was right. He let the weight of his grief take over his responsibility to the galaxy. He let go of his emotional burden and opened his eyes. Ben was relieved and noticed that his father looked much better than before and Luke told Ben it was time for him to make his own lightsaber.

[edit] Destroying Centerpoint Station

After the Corellians failed to kill Jacen Solo using Centerpoint Station. Solo then made a plan to capture the station and force the Confederation to surrender. During a visit from Tenel Ka Djo, Luke Skywalker offered to retrieve her daughter Allana from Jacen who he was using to keep that Hapans in the war. Luke planned to destroy Centerpoint Station, which was too dangerous for any organization to control. The Jedi and a veteran starfighter squadron, the Rakehells, readied themselves for the strikes on both Centerpoint Station, and the Anakin Solo where Allana was being held. During the battle Jedi Master Kyp Durron and his team infiltrated Centerpoint disguised as GAG troopers. Luke, his son and Saba Sebatyne would distract Jacen while Han and Leia retrieved Allana. Wedge Antilles and the Rakehells defended the transports and shuttles containing the extract the strike teams. The Skywalkers would board the Anakin Solo using General Tycho Celchu's shuttle, the Reveille. The Jedi, Rakehell Squadron, the Reveille task force, and the troop transport Broadside, dropped out of hyperspace near Centerpoint Station. The Reveille and Rakehell Squadron moved toward the Anakin Solo. The squadron shot at the shuttle, intentionally missing it so the shuttle would be granted permission to land in the hangar of the Star Destroyer. As the shuttle landed inside the hangar, Tycho also landed in the hangar and alerted the GAG forces that a Jedi team was inside. Suddenly, smoke started pouring out of the shuttle, confusing the GAG troopers. One trooper yelled for the others to look at the shuttle, and as the troopers turned to look, one of them, startled by the shout, shot Tycho. Jacen was alerted and immediately felt the presences of the Jedi onboard. He sent YVH droids to stall the Jedi. Rakehell Squadron approached the troop transport, Broadside, which was headed towards Centerpoint, and opened fire, intentionally missing. Aboard the transport was Doctor Toval Seyah who would disable and destroy Centerpoint, while Kyp Durron led the Jedi forces. In the Anakin Solo Luke's team headed towards the bridge to distract Jacen, while Han, Leia, and Iella went to rescue Allana. Soon Lukes team had defeated four YVH droids and went to the bridge. Jacen watched the Jedi approach and opened the bridge doors, telling the Jedi he would never surrender and he ordered the YVH droids to kill them. As Luke, Ben, and Saba fought the droids, Han, Leia, and Iella were crawled through secret shafts in order to get to Allana without Jacen knowing. On the way Leia noticed a workbench with a nearly finished lightsaber. She thought it was for Ben but it was actually the nearly completed lightsaber of Darth Caedus that would have a red Sith blade. They finally found Allana. They destroyed a YVH droid and headed towards the Millennium Falcon. During the fight on the bridge Ben threw grenades at the droids down into the officers' pits. The droids were destroyed and men and women set on fire. Jacen used the Force on Saba, causing her to fall into one of the pits and she was slammed into the port-side wall on fire. Luke told her to go to safety. Now Luke and Ben were left to fight Jacen and the rest of the droids. Jacen immediately left after feeling in the force that Allana was being taken. Luke warned Leia that Jacen was on his way and they headed towards the air lock. Luke, Ben, and Saba, being chased by Jacen, finally arrived and left with Allana. Seyah after a failed try, sabotaged Centerpoint which led to its destruction and a victory for the Coalition.

[edit] Allies Gained at Fondor

After the Jedi managed to rescue Allana from Jacen, He demanded to know how the Jedi managed to board the Anakin Solo. When Lieutenant Tebut admitted that although she did everything right it was her fault the Dark Lord Force choked her to death in front of the entire bridge crew. When Captain Kral Nevil tried to stop him, he used the Force to throw him against a bulkhead. This event shocked the entire Galactic Alliance and since Cha Niathal couldn't challenge her co-Chief of State openly, she began communicating with Luke Skywalker in secret. Niathal told Luke about the upcoming invasion of Fondor. This ended up in Luke Skywalker informing the Fondorians of the space mines that would be placed around the planet. The ships placing the mines were shot down and the world was preparing for invasion. This greatly affected the battle against the GA forces as the mines could have taken out many ships quickly and improved their odds. Niathal later felt badly about causing the deaths of the hundred soldiers killed as a result of her leaked information. The Jedi did not directly fight in the battle; they only protected the unarmed civilians working in the orbital yards. However, the battle still ended up being a great victory for the Coalition. After the initial battle, the Galactic Alliance split into two. One side was the official GA that supported Jacen. The other was Niathal's GA government in exile which joined the Coalition. Also the Maw Irregular Fleet came to Niathals aid after the death of Gilad Pellaeon and later joined the Coalition along with the Mandalorians under Boba Fett. Luke Skywalker negotiated with the president of Fondor to use the planet as the Coalitions base of operations, making a place for all enemies of Jacen Solo to rally.

[edit] Reunion

The Coalition ended when the Sword of the Jedi faced off against the Dark Lord of the Sith, bringing the war to an end. Everyone returned to their respective factions; splitting the Jedi Coalition back into the Galactic Alliance and the New Jedi Order once again.
