The Jedi Medical Corps Infirmary ward was housed in the First Knowledge quarter of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant; a part of the larger Halls Of Healing. It was composed of over a hundred of the best bacta tanks in the galaxy. It was used to heal wounded Jedi back from their missions and was staffed by Jedi Healers under the supervision of the Circle. Within the compact hospital, it contained an operating theater, private recovery rooms, a common ward, therapy chambers, a neurology ward, and sealed atmosphere rooms that simulated other planetary environs.
A long hall dotted by bacta tanks and operation tables, the chamber also had private operation rooms of of the main hall. Observation decks overlooked the hall at several intervals down the walls. Several advanced 2-1B medical droids operated the machinery and observed the wounded patients. While the infirmary was located in the Temple, a dedicated turbolift ran from the Galactic City Medical Center into the infirmary, allowing desperate patients get much needed healing from the Jedi.
Many Jedi crowded the beds of the infirmary during the Clone Wars. Depa Billaba, in her comatose state occupied a permanent ward where the healers would keep vigil, waiting for her to wake. K'Kruhk, Tholme, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Tr'a Saa would all come to heal here over the bloody war's course.
During the invasion of the Temple, the 501st Legion laid waste to the hall and destroyed the bacta tanks, killing all those who were healing there.
When Luke Skywalker had the Temple rebuilt, the infirmary was restored to its pristine form once again. Healer Cilghal and her Padawan Tekli would administer their art to all Jedi who returned from missions injured. When Valin Horn become mentally unbound, Cilghal strapped him to a hovergurney and sent him straight to the neurology ward for treatment. Adjacent to the ward was a viewing theater that looked in through one way transparisteel.
After the Sith takeover, decades after the building was built, Darth Maladi would transform one of the operation rooms into a lab where she tortured prisoners of the Sith. The bacta tanks in the hall would glow red, and the lights were removed from overhead, casting the room into a miserable, and dreary gloom.
