The Jedi Monument was a memorial built by the people of New Holstice to comemorate all the Jedi who had died since the birth of the Galactic Republic. A being had only whisper a name and the memory moth's fluttering wings would mimick back the words for eternity. Memory moths were then released into a giant cylinder where thousands more were held. Anakin Skywalker added names of his fallen comrades after the Second Battle of Jabiim.

The monument on New Holstice may be based on a real world memorial to CIA agents killed in combat in the CIA headquarters at Langley, Virginia. The monument consists of a star for every operative killed in combat.
