[edit] History
During the Clone Wars, before the Mission to Ord Cestus, Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kit Fisto shared a meal of thrantcill pâté and a plate of hawk-bat eggs, before taking an air taxi to Centralia Memorial Spaceport.
After the fall of the Temple, the refectories would lie empty for decades. When the Temple was destroyed in the Yuuzhan Vong War, the rooms were reduced to rubble. A table in one of the main refectories was cleared of rubble for use by stormtroopers stationed here.
[edit] Reconstruction
When Luke Skywalker reformed the Order, he had the Temple rebuilt, along with all the rooms inside, including the refectories. In 43 ABY, Master Kyp Durron activated a swing-out holoscreen on the wall of a dining hall during lunch hour, something that was usually forbidden, and broadcast news from the Galactic Courts of Justice Building. The broadcast detailed that the Guilty by Association rider had been overturned, causing a cheer to issue forth from the Knights and Padawans in the hall. Moments later, Masters Durron and Cilghal were summoned to the Jedi Temple Main Entrance to deal with a situation.
After secretly abducting rogue Jedi Seff Hellin, Jaina Solo and Tahiri Veila met in the common dining hall for a cup of caf, due to its relative emptiness and soothing atmosphere. Their peace was interrupted when Jaina's Jedi supervisor, Dab Hantaq appeared and upset Jedi Veila by his similar appearance to her former love Anakin Solo.
[edit] Layout
Each hall was filled with long, trestle tables that were flanked by benches; holodisplays were hung in spots on the walls to show news from across the Galaxy. The halls were maintained by refectory droids capable of analyzing the content of the foodtrays. The kitchens were run by Jedi but mainly staffed by non-Force sensitives. The kitchen area had access areas to various service corridors, along with an airlift from the Storage Level. When a kitchen worked keyed in a request for food or ingredients on the datascreen in the kitchen, a droid in the sublevels of the Temple would take the requested container off its shelf, and placed into the vertical airlift where it would be shot up to the refectory.
[edit] Kitchen gardens
The kitchen gardens were a quiet area where the food for the Temple was grown. Master Yoland Fee maintained a garden in the the Tower of Reconciliation. Padawan Scout would practice enduring pain in one of these gardens, using knives and practice lightsabers to injure herself.
[edit] Breakfast Rooms
Apart from the main refectories throughout the Temple, smaller, more intimate chambers were located on the roof of the Temple Ziggurat. The chambers were set into the structures on the roof, with transparisteel windows that could rise into the ceiling to let in fresh air. Padawans were known to invite their Masters here on occasion before beginning the day.
Ferus Olin would enter the ruins of the Temple for the last time, by breaking through the plastoid that covered the shattered window of one of these rooms. He recalled the memories of his time at the Temple and in rooms such as the Breakfast room before moving on with his mission. Going out in to the Council Spire Atrium, Olin entered into a duel with Vader.
