The Museum of Temple History was a chamber located in the High Council quarter of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
History
Edit
When the room was first erected in the Temple after one of the numerous expansions, the chamber housed the scrolls and records salvaged from the Great Jedi Library on Ossus. Because of the destruction of the Library, the artifacts were stored on Coruscant. Serving as the Archives of the Jedi Order, the chamber remained in use by the Jedi Lore Keepers for several centuries. In 2,019 BBY, the Temple was expanded further, seeing the addition of a new Archives and library. Moving all the artifacts to the larger chamber and converting much of the text into holobook form, the old archives room was re-purposed as a museum to Temple history.[1]
As Jedi Initiates grew, one of their first tasks was to learn the history of their home, and to complete an assignment for their instructors. Making use of the museum, students could become more familiar with the Temple that they would reside in for the first few decades of their lives. [5]
In 19 BBY Supreme Chancellor Palpatine ordered the invasion of the Temple and the total extermination of its residents. Led by Darth Vader, the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic systematically purged the Temple of all Jedi. The museum would fall victim to the assault, lying in ruin for several decades after the initial attack.[2] After the fall of the Galactic Empire, the Temple was reclaimed by the New Jedi Order, yet before restoration could fully commence, the Temple was lost in the Yuuzhan Vong War.[4] While the Temple was rebuilt by the Reconstruction Authority in 35 ABY, it is unknown if the museum was included in the rebuilding.[6]
