Jedi Trials Chamber
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
Located in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the Jedi Trials Chamber was located in the complex as a place where potential Jedi Knights came to pass their conventional Jedi Trials. Padawans were forced to perform various acts and face off against various holographic Jedi and Sith.
[edit] Layout
A high-roofed chamber, the walkway of the hall was lined with statues of long dead warriors and it is here that holograms would appear to spar with the Padawans. Located in an upper level wing of the Jedi Temple, the Chamber was located near the entrance to the Jedi Archives. Within the walls of the chamber, the Jedi Trials program could shuffle through archived data on ancient Sith and Jedi, each of these opponents were then projected into the room and were set against a potential Knight.
[edit] History
During the time of the Old Republic, the Jedi Temple was the hub of training for Jedi. Within this chamber, Jedi Padawans would face a specialized set of tests that would try their skills and, if they succeed in beating the program, they were raised to the status of Jedi Knight.
With the destruction of the Jedi Temple, the Trials chamber was damaged with blasterfire and several statues were toppled. During the early years of the Galactic Empire, Starkiller was sent here by Darth Vader to pass the trials. In this chamber he fought the hologram of Darth Desolous, eventually defeating the ancient Sith by crushing him under the giant statue of Emperor Palpatine at the end of the hall. He also defeated the hologram of Darth Phobos in the Jedi Archives, even though the hologram tried to mentally falter him and changed from her regular form to the form of Juno Eclipse, whom Starkiller was becoming romantically involved with.
After Starkiller left the Temple, the ceiling of the hall leading to the chamber would collapse, blocking off all access to the room.
