Plot summary[]

MACE WINDU
Book I, Part V
It is a time of uncertainty for the Jedi Order. With the
advent of the Clone Wars, the sworn peacekeepers of
the Republic find themselves thrust into battle as
generals in the struggle against the Separatists.

Jedi Master Mace Windu has assembled a small covert
team to investigate Separatist activity on the planet
Hissrich. Having anticipated the Jedi's interference,
the Separatist General Grievous has recruited AD-W4,
a mercenary droid with a thirst for murdering Jedi, to
protect their interests on Hissrich.

However, after detaining Prosset Dibs for turning on
his Jedi team, Master Windu's remaining group of Jedi
Knights Kit Fisto and Rissa Mano are back to the task
at hand. They've found the Separatist droid base, but
now it must be destroyed....

The comic opens with Kit Fisto having a wonderful time fighting battle droids, describing how to the droids he is the jaws of the Wooriid. Meanwhile, Mace Windu and Rissa Mano are continuing their infiltration - Mano briefly second-guesses the plan but they continue onward. They split up and Windu arrives at the center of the facility to confront AD-W4. They begin to fight and as Windu gains the upper hand, Mano goes to reinforce Fisto. Windu, after seeing the departure of the harvested plants, uses AD-W4's head to simultaneously destroy him and the shipment.

They return to Coruscant and after Windu gives the briefing on the Separatists and the situation on Hissrich, they address the matter of Prosset Dibs. After Dibs defends his actions, the Council deliberates what to do but Windu defends Dibs from the likely penalty of death. Despite Dibs' protests, Windu argues that his punishment can be working in the library, which may help him understand and sort out his confusion.

After the meeting, Windu and Mano reflect on what is to come and what the Jedi must do, as scenes from the Clone Wars are shown. The comic ends with Windu saying that the Jedi must do what they always do facing evil- they fight.

Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group has said Yarael Poof's appearance on the Jedi High Council is an error and that the Council's members should have been the same as Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu 1.[3]
