- "I thought you were just a crazy old man. But I was wrong. Yours was the soul of a true Jedi Knight... the last Jedi. I pray that I meet death as valiantly as you did. May the Force be with you, Jedi... forever."
- ―Luke Skywalker[src]
Jedidiah was a Velmoc who hailed from the planet Velmor.

[edit] Biography
Twenty years before the Battle of Yavin, Jedidiah was a friend and trusted advisor to King Lorac and Queen Denira of Velmor, who resided in the planet's capital city of Del Velmor. Jedidiah was also very strong in the Force and was asked to follow the ways of the Jedi. He wanted to be a Jedi Knight more than anything else in the galaxy, but he felt that his first obligation was to the family of King Lorac.
As Emperor Palpatine expanded his New Order, the Empire established a foothold on Velmor. A mob of citizens loyal to the Empire raided the royal palace and murdered the king and queen. Jedidiah grabbed Lorac's son, Prince Denid, and his consort, Lady Loren, and escaped Velmor inside of his personal starship. They flew towards the edge of the Galaxy and crash-landed on the jungle world of Tantajoc V. A piece of debris from the burning ship fell down and struck Jedidiah upon the skull, causing him permanent brain damage. Completely addle-brained, he continued to act as guardian/protector to Prince Denid on the jungle planet.
Three years after the Battle of Yavin, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, C-3PO and R2-D2 discovered Prince Denid and Jedidiah on the planet. They took them in their modified Y-wing fighter and brought them back to Velmor. During the journey, Jedidiah would playfully attack C-3PO, wielding a gnarled, wooden walking stick, as if it were a lightsaber. Threepio later consulted with a 2-1B surgical droid to see if Jedidiah required an oil change.
On Velmor, Jedidiah learned of a plot orchestrated by the Imperial officer Captain Zeta Traal to murder Prince Denid and Luke Skywalker. Jedidiah left the royal palace astride a Ycaqt and raced to their rescue. He spied Traal preparing to shoot Luke Skywalker in the back, and he dove from the back of the animal onto Traal, spoiling her shot. Traal turned her weapon on Jedidiah and blasted him in the chest at point blank range. Later, Luke took Jedidah’s body aboard his Y-wing fighter and jettisoned him in a special coffin into outer space.
[edit] Behind the scenes
Although Jedidiah had never been part of the Jedi Order, he was often labeled as the Last Jedi. Even if he were a Jedi, he would not be the last, since there were still a couple dozen Jedi of the original Jedi Order living beyond 3 ABY. See Order 66.
The cover to Star Wars #49 shows Jedidiah mis-colored as green. His carapace is actually a dark, purplish hue.
"Jedidiah" is a Hebrew name meaning "friend of YHWH." It was the birth-name of Solomon (2 Samuel 12:25). In-universe, it is a play on words, incorporating the word "Jedi."
