Jiir was the older brother of Basso. They were both in the Ralltiir resistance, just prior to the Battle of Yavin. When Leia Organa was on a mercy mission on Ralltiir, the resistance created a diversion to let Basso get through the local stormtroopers, so he could inform Leia of the Imperial presence on Ralltiir. Jiir died creating the diversion when he was shot by a stormtrooper.
