Jimas Veltraa commanded the Galactic Republic fleet at the Battle of Vanquo in the year 3,964 BBY. When the Mandalorians broke through the Jebble-Vanquo-Tarnith line, Veltraa reformed the fleet into a line defending Taris. He was killed when his flagship, the Reliance, was destroyed. His sacrifice slowed the Mandalorian forces in their assault on Taris.
Veltraa was honored in a memorial service on Coruscant, in Admiralty Plaza. A Hammerhead-class cruiser Veltraa was also named to honor his service to the Republic.
