John Madden directed the radio adaptations of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

He is best known for directing such films as Mrs. Brown, Shakespeare in Love (for which he was nominated for an Academy Award), and most recently Killshot in 2009. He has also directed for the stage and for British television.
