[edit] Biography
A student of the Dark Woman, Antilles was considered a maverick by many in the Jedi Order. After refusing to take a Padawan learner, Antilles roamed the galaxy, allowing the Force to be his guide. His lack of communication with the Jedi High Council was frustrating to the Order, but his substantial achievements, including infiltrating the Bounty Hunters Guild, spoke volumes as to his mastery of the Force.
Four months into the Clone Wars, Antilles came to the world of Queyta to assist four of his fellow Jedi in finding the source of the chemical weapons used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, even though the High Council had not assigned him to the task force. While chasing Asajj Ventress with Fay and Obi-Wan Kenobi, he briefly dueled the Dark Jedi. However, Durge attacked them, and he tried to hold him back. In his final moments, Antilles grappled with Durge in order to give Kenobi and Fay enough time to pursue Ventress and secure an antidote for the chemical weapon that had devastated Ohma-D'un. Although a skilled Jedi, Antilles was no match for the Gen'Dai bounty hunter; Durge incinerated Antilles by pressing him into a lava stream.
[edit] Personality and traits
Little is known about the early life of this mysterious Jedi. Following in the footsteps of the Dark Woman, it appears that he abandoned his original name, adapting the "Jon Antilles" moniker for unknown reasons. Adding to his mystique was the fact that he constantly kept his features shrouded beneath the hood of his robe.
His personality appears to have been that of a disobedient loner, if his actions on Queyta are any indication. He barely acknowledged Nico Diath's authority as task force leader, and even tried to take the lead himself at one point. He was also strangely absent for much of the actual battle, though he would conveniently resurface to save Kenobi from Ventress and then Durge.
It could be that Antilles' strength was in stealth rather than combat; he was able to sneak up on Durge unnoticed, yet did not fare well against him in a one-on-one fight. Regardless, Antilles was not lacking in courage as he willingly made this sacrifice for the sake of the mission.
[edit] Behind the scenes
The name Jon Antilles was presumably intended as an in-joke. The surname Antilles is unusually common in the Star Wars movies, making Jon Antilles an equivalent to John Smith.
