Joralla was a semi-tropical planet in the Joralla system that was subjugated and quarantined by the Galactic Empire. It was the source of precious gems such as Jorallan opals and pearls.

During the early Galactic Civil War era its population was estimated to be ten million.

World Summary
The planet of Joralla is dominated by tropical jungles. The red giant star bathes the planet in crimson light.
This world is home to an extremely hostile species known as the Tikiari. There has been talk of quarantining the planet.
A world of uncommon beauty and peril, Joralla is a monument to temptation. For those willing to take the risk, there are potentially vast mineral treasures to be found, as well as creatures which coulc command high prices on other worlds. The wise explorer will attempt to come to some arrangement with the Tikiari to allow safe passage.

Joralla

The lush tropical rain forests of Joralla tend to conceal a topography that is as lovely as it is diverse. Huge waterfalls cascade from the tops of mountains, pummeling chasms ripped into the very bedrock by earthquakes of unimaginable power. Plateaus hundreds of kilometers wide are dotted with winding rivers and huge forests. Imposing mountain chains cover the three main continents, with volcanoes mixing in with peaks thought long dead. A world of savage beauty, the volcanoes and forests overlook the expansive, rich oceans of deep blue water.
The atmosphere of Joralla is perfectly suited for oxygen-breathers. Tremendous weather and seasonal fluctuations make for abrupt climate changes from month to month, with temperatures varying from a peak of 50 Degrees Celsius (at the height of summer in the equatorial zones) to a low of -35 degrees Celsius (In the polar regions during winter)
Life Forms of Joralla
The flora and fauna of Joralla is remarkable for its beauty and diversity. The thick jungles are home to thousands of different species of trees, bushes and ferns. Hidden among the lush and colorful plant life are a huge range of insects, mammals, birds, and reptiles. The cooler forest regions are home to many similar species of plants and animals. Joralla's wilderness offers a varied and tasty diet to any who are stranded, with fruits and vegetables in abundance, and many different kinds of wild game.
Some of the most nutritious fruits on the planet are the giant redspars. Nearly half a meter across, with a brilliant red skin, these fruits can be found all over the planet. Many of the best-tasting berries come from the tequa bushes, which are barely 50 centimeters tall, yet whose branches can be many meters long. Many plants on Joralla have defense mechanisms, such as the brilliant blue kewafi flowers, which shoot poison barbs.

Predator: Wulkarsk

Wulkarsks were six-limbed, four-eyed pack predators from the jungles of Joralla. They were easily capable of eating humanoid-sized prey. Wulkarsks were trained to hunt for the Tikiarri. They were part of a family of animals known as wulkensos. Wild wulkarsk were always found alone, prowling the jungles of the planet.

Appearance and Biology

The Wulkarsk had two distinct torso sections: the lower torso had four legs and provided a low center of gravity while the upper torso had one pair of clawed limbs and the neck and head at the top of the upper torso. Each limb had three digits each with a long claw, and a rear claw at the back of the foot or the base of the wrist. Wulkarsk had elongated snouts, with four eyes (two forward looking and two backward looking) and elongated ears set just above the jawbone but below the eyes. The wulkarsk were the largest members of the family wulkenso, with several closely related animal species also found in the jungles and forests of the planet.

Herbivore: Oslet

Oslets were six-limbed, arboreal, three-meter-tall herbivores from Joralla, used as mounts by the Tikiarri. An oslet could rotate its head 360 degrees due, to its flexible neck.

Appearance and Biology

Another creature common to Joralla was the oslet. The large herbivore had three pairs of limbs, but also had a three sectioned torso for great mobility. The lowest set of limbs was long, thick and well-muscled for jumping, while the middle and upper limbs were shorter and better adapated for climbing.
Oslets consumed tree leaves, fruits and vines, and they made their nests in the upper limbs of Joralla's towering sio trees. They had elongated, flexible necks and small, triangular heads with long snouts. They could turn their heads 360 degrees. They were normally deep red and brown. Oslets were easily frightened and would flee rather than fight. They were timid, but were easily trained as mounts and were adept at quickly moving among the trees of the jungle.

Sentient Species: Tikiarri

The Tikiarri were perfectly designed for flight - light, hollow bones, large wings, a razor sharp beak and excellent eyesight. They were carrion eaters. Tikiarri had a natural life span of about 30 local years, but most males died in combat or during hunting by age 20, and most females died before age 20 because they were forced to produce young as soon as they were able (between eight and 10 years of age).

Society and Culture

The Tikiarri bred the wulkarsk, both for ferocity and for the ability to follow simple commands. The Tikiarri hunted by turning loose a group of wulkarsk, then tracking their progress while gliding on the air currents. Once an animal had been killed by the wulkarsk, the Tikiarri swooped down upon the scene and feasted, often bringing scraps back to the nesting area for other members of the tribe. The Tikiarri were highly competitive both within the tribe and with neighboring clans and inter-tribal warfare was common.
Tribes were theoretically ruled by the bravest and most capable male, but in reality the most devious male eliminated all other contenders and assumed control of a tribe by default. Tribal leaders were extremely fortunate if they survived their first year of rule. The tribes were also obsessed with advanced weaponry since a trader introduced them to blasters. The tribes often held hunts to kill off-worlders for their weaponry and most tribes had one or two blaster pistols, often controlled by the tribe leader.

Sentient Species: Wasilsi
The Wasilsi were a sentient humanoid species that lived on the planet Joralla. They constructed temples and villages, worked metal, and had a written language. Joralla was inhabited by another sentient species, the avian Tikiarri, with whom the Wasilsi warred for many years. While the Wasilsi were stronger and more intelligent than their opponents, the humanoids eventually became extinct. A sentientologist from the University of Huvveck theorized that the Wasilsi were not native to Joralla and became extinct after contracting a plague.

Biology and appearance
The Wasilsi were a species of humanoids that is, they had two arms and two legs. They had skeletons and were stronger and more intelligent than the avian Tikiarri, with whom they shared the planet Joralla for a time. Research by Beyorth Gommdora, a sentientologist, indicated that there was little similarity in structure between the Wasilsi and the Tikiarri, which led Gommdora to conjecture that the Wasilsi were not native to the planet and lacked natural immunity to bacteria or viruses, to which their avian counterparts
