[edit] Biography
The false Kadann ruled the group of false Prophets from the space station Scardia and headed the first Church of the Dark Side on Coruscant. The false Kadann possessed a collection of rare items in display cases on the station. He often sat on his throne on the Scardia Station. A table beside the throne held several chalk balls in different colors: Yellow represented a lie, red represented murder, silver represented a Jedi Prince, and blue represented the shame and disgrace. Whenever someone was brought before him, the false Kadann would use these balls in conversation; if someone told a lie he would hold up the yellow ball, if he knew the person had murdered someone he would crush the red ball and the dust would float towards the murderer, and he would crush the silver ball whenever he was mentioning the Jedi Prince. Grand Moff Bertroff Hissa addressed the false Kadann as "Dreamer of Dark Dreams, Supreme Prophet of the Empire," but his title was usually given as "Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side."
While pretending to continue the true Kadann's prophecies, the pretender stated that the next Emperor would wear the Glove of Darth Vader, which inspired the Emperor-hopeful Trioculus to try to find it. When Trioculus recovered the Glove, the false Kadann named Trioculus the new Emperor and told him to destroy the "Jedi Prince", Ken. The false Kadann knew that Trioculus would be unable to fulfill this prophecy; he simply wanted to control the Empire himself. So, when Trioculus did indeed fail, the false Kadann claimed for himself the title of Emperor. Grand Moff Hissa and his followers, who had wanted to control Trioculus as their pawn, were extremely unhappy with this outcome. Additionally, Ysanne Isard was trying to lay claim to the Empire at this time, adding yet another enemy. Grand Admiral Afsheen Makati, an enemy from the real Kadann's past and an ally of Isard's, requested that he be allowed to hunt down the usurper as revenge for the past.
The prophets and the group of Moffs then raced to find the Lost City of the Jedi on the moon Yavin 4. The false prophets managed to find the city and, when they entered it, discovered it was everything they had hoped. Unfortunately for them, Ken and Luke Skywalker entered the city as the prophets were attempting to steal the main computer, which contained all the information of the Jedi Library. Random fire from Kadann's troops managed to destroy the computer, however, and Luke managed to escape the city and seal off the entrance so that the false Kadann could not escape for some time. While this was all happening, Makati managed to hunt down the real Kadann's former apprentice Azrakel, learning of the location of Scardia from him, and simply waited for Kadann to return.
With the help of his slave Triclops, the false Kadann managed to escape from the Lost City and returned to Scardia to continue his reign. Unfortunately for him, it was too late. Isard had managed to reinstate the galactic freedom of religion, causing the spiritually starved citizens to abandon the necromantic faith of the false prophets. When he entered Scardia, he found the corpses of all his fellow prophets littering the space station. Soon Makati's voice erupted from the comm: "Your subordinate Azrakel was kind enough to help me find you, my Emperor. He doesn't care for your sparkly dress either." And, with that, Makati blasted the station with turbolasers, ending once and for all the false prophet's reign.
[edit] Behind the scenes
Though Kadann was created for, and thus first seen in, the Jedi Prince series, he was later retconned in the unlicensed Polyhedron 103 magazine. This retcon stated that the Jedi Prince series had in fact been a children's story of the actual events told by Leia Organa Solo to her children Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin and also stated that the real Kadann was in fact much more powerful, deadly, and fear-inspiring than the Kadann heard of in these stories. However, this retcon was later ignored in the Dark Side Sourcebook which retconned the Kadann featured in these books to have in fact been a false prophet, who simply posed as the real Kadann. Thus, an entirely new Kadann was born who has only ever been mentioned in articles rather than being featured in any stories. This article thus incorporates the old Polyhedron 103 material as being from the real Kadann while not contradicting future, more canon sources.
