Kae Kwaad

Kae Kwaad was an alias assumed by Onimi, the deformed Yuuzhan Vong Shamed One, who himself masqueraded as the deranged jester of Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane. In truth, Onimi was a powerful Force-sensitive and the true leader of the Yuuzhan Vong species during their invasion of the galaxy; the persona of Kae Kwaad, supposedly an aged and insane master shaper, was simply another disguise taken up by Onimi in order to achieve his goals. With withered and useless hands—fake organic prosthetics—crude sexual fixations and a penchant for obscenity, the Kae Kwaad disguise and persona were devised by Onimi to draw out the true motives of his target, the young Yuuzhan Vong shaper Nen Yim. In order to mask his own disfigured appearance, Onimi utilized an ooglith masquer, which ensheathed his body in what was essentially a second skin that portrayed the features of the fictitious Kae Kwaad.
Onimi assumed the Kwaad alias in 26 ABY, the second year of the Yuuzhan Vong War, in order to observe Nen Yim, an unorthodox Yuuzhan Vong shaper whom, like Onimi himself, had pursued heretical sciences in order to improve the lot of the Yuuzhan Vong species. Disgraced and banished for her transgressions to the dying Koros-strohna worldships that made up the Yuuzhan Vong fleet, Yim had requested help in attempting to save one of the vessels, the Baanu Miir. Onimi travelled to the Baanu Miir and introduced himself as Kae Kwaad, Yim's new superior. Feigning obstinacy, insanity and sexual perversion, Onimi ordered Yim to abandon her work on the Baanu Miir and instead focus on perfecting Yuuzhan Vong techonology that was already well established to be operating adequately. Before long, Yim was galvanized into an attempt on "Kae Kwaad"'s life. By this point, Onimi had what he wanted; proof that Yim possessed prodigious talent for bioengineering and that she could be moulded into his personal scientist. Easily preventing Yim's plot on his life, Onimi abandoned the insane and idiotic aspects of the Kwaad persona and revealed to the younger shaper that Yuuzhan Vong technology had reached its apex and that innovation could only be acheived through her heresy. Onimi remained in the Kae Kwaad disguise until he had transported Yim back to his puppet Shimrra Jamaane, whereupon he revealed his true form and his role as Jamaane's jester.

Kae Kwaad was the alias used by Onimi when he went to observe Nen Yim on Baanu Miir. In appearance, Kae Kwaad had two shaper hands, both of which died, but the other Master Shapers had not given him a new one. Nen Yim soon realized why: he was insane. He also referred to Nen Yim as Nen Tsup, meaning she was an unseemly slave. When he demanded Nen Yim create the perfect grutchin, she decided to murder him. Kae Kwaad then asked Nen Yim to make him a new pair of shaper hands, by allowing her to access the eighth cortex, but while she was examining it, he destroyed the grutchins they were making. Kae Kwaad then took her to Supreme Overlord Shimrra, who then commanded Onimi to reveal himself.
