[edit] Biography
As a Padawan, he accompanied his Master, Ur-Sema Du, to catalogue Force-sensitive creatures in the galaxy for the Jedi Archives. On Abraxin, the duo encountered a marsh haunt; on Tatooine, a nightcrawler. Kai Justiss also had encounters with other Force-sensitive creatures after becoming a Jedi Knight, including a jakobeast and a pair of mischievous muttamoks.
Kai was part of Mace Windu's task force sent to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala, and was one of the few Jedi to emerge alive. He lost his former master, Ur-Sema Du, in the battle, but was promoted to Jedi Master.
During the Clone Wars, he at times piloted a Delta-7 Aethersprite starfighter. As a Senior Jedi General, Kai joined a Jedi team going to Drongar, including the Jedi Master's Tsui Choi and Sian Jeisel, whom were captured by Separatist forces led by Count Dooku. Dooku spared the lives of the Jedi, hoping to appear merciful and thus swaying some Jedi to sympathize with the Separatist cause.
Eight months later, Kai succeeded Yoda as Jedi Watchman to Kashyyyk. Kai led the Wookiees in the defense of Rwookrrorro from the Separatists while Yoda and other Jedi defended Kachirho.
Kai managed to survive the Great Jedi Purge and was still at large after the destruction of the first Death Star in 0 BBY. However, the two decades he spent evading the Galactic Empire eventually took its toll on him: he was clearly malnourished and dangerously thin. While hiding on Garqi, Kai was betrayed by the local farmers, who reported his whereabouts to the Crimson Nova band of bounty hunters. It is unknown what became of Kai following this incident.
