The Kallakea system was located in the Authala sector,[1] a part of the Slice portion of[2] the Expansion Region.[1] It was the origin point of the phenomenon known as Kallakean rainbows.[3][4]

Behind the scenes[]

The Kallakea system was first introduced in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying game source article published in the thirteenth issue of the Voyages SF magazine. The article placed it in the Heterkus sector and[5] erroneously[6] claimed that it was referenced in[5] the 1988[6] roleplaying adventure Strike Force: Shantipole, published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Since the article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never confirmed.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, subsequently placed the Kallakea system in grid square P-12,[2] and the StarWars.com Online Companion to the book overrode the Voyages SF 13 placement by placing the system in the Authala sector instead.[1]

(backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Kallakean rainbows in relation to the Kallakea system.
