Characteristics
Edit
The class's firepower could be compared to a EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate. It was also known to be only ray shielded, leaving it vulnerable to physical projectiles (like Proton torpedoes) and space debris. Unlike most cruisers utilized by pirates, the base model did not include ion weapons, although it did include a tractor beam.
History
Edit
The Kaloth-class was designed and introduced at least as of 44 BBY. That year, they were used by the Stark Commercial Combine during the Stark Hyperspace War.[2]
By the time of the Caamas Document Crisis, only few such vessels remained, all of them in hands of pirate groups such as the Cavrilhu Pirates or Thalassian slavers.
One such vessel was used by the Cavrilhu Pirates in a raid against Iphigin. The same vessel was later used to attack the Star Destroyer Chimaera at Pesitiin where it was destroyed by a volley of 15 Proton Torpedoes fired by the Chimaera.
Another Kaloth-class battlecruiser was known as the Harmzuay, and was one of the most infamous ships in the Thalassian fleet.
