Kani Asari was a female Human Padawan of the New Jedi Order. Stationed at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as of 43 ABY, she was assigned as Interim Grand Master Kenth Hamner's personal assistant as he was dealing with the crisis between the Order and the Galactic Alliance.

When Alliance fugitives-turned-liaison officers Han and Leia Solo arrived at the Temple to negotiate a working treaty of sorts between Chief of State Natasi Daala and the Jedi High Council, Apprentice Asari received the pair in the main entrance hall and escorted them to a turbolift in the Great Hall that took them to a conference chamber deep in the Temple. Later, when Daala ordered Mandalorians to besiege the Temple, Asari tried to negotiate with the Mandalorian commander, Belok Rhal. However, he simply noted that she was neither Saar nor Altamik, and shot her at point-blank range, killing her, much to the shock of the Jedi. After Asari's death, Galactic Alliance Chief of Staff Wynn Dorvan carried her body from the Temple steps after his routine lunch with Jedi Raynar Thul.
