Kashi was a planet in the Kashi system, rimward of Corva sector, and apparently near Belderone sector.

The Kashi Mer Dynasty, an isolationist Human civilization located in the Phelleem sector, reached its height in 29,000 BBY as the culture discovered ways in which to control and manipulate "the Breath," also known as the Force. The mystic Force organization that manipulated the Force was known as the Guardians of the Breath.

The culture was wiped out when the primary star supporting the planet Kashi went supernova in 25,000 BBY, and the entire system was destroyed. Prior to this, the Kashi Mer talisman was stolen from the planet, and the supernova occurred shortly after the thief, Reda Jalooz returned to the planet seeking forgiveness. The Orixon Nebula's black halo is the remnant of the planet.

The monarchy was guarded by the Royale Macheteros.

[edit] Behind the scenes

"Kashi Mer" bears a striking pronunciation resemblance to cashmere, a real-world clothing material as well as Kashmir, a disputed region between India and Pakistan.

The Tales of the Jedi Companion describes the Kashi Mer culture as still being extant in 4,000 BBY. This was contradicted in later sources.
