[edit] Biography

Nothing is known of Captain Kazan's life, except that he was a captain onboard a Rebel ship, and was involved in the search for a powerful invisibility talisman by the Rebels.

Not long before the Blockade of Kashyyyk by the Galactic Empire, Han Solo and Chewbacca went on a search for a mystical talisman. It was during this mission that Captain Kazan made log entry 3-24-1, in which he said:

"Starlog 3-24-1 from the bridge of the cruiser RS Revenge, Captain Kazan reporting. We are awaiting the return of Captain Han Solo and his first mate, Chewbacca; who are long overdue on a delicate mission to acquire the mystical talisman which has been sought by our forces and by the Empire."

He later commented:

"Starlog update: Although Boba Fett quickly located the serum for the sleeping virus - we had no idea of his real plan."

[edit] Family

Captain Kazan may be a relative of Bera Kazan, a notorious smuggler during the Clone Wars. Since his species and physical characteristics are unknown, this would indicate that he may be a Human, possibly with blue eyes and black hair, as Bera did, as her characteristics may have been hereditary.

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • It is unknown who the actor was who portrayed the voice of Kazan in his voiceover in The Star Wars Holiday Special, as the actor was uncredited.
  • It is also unknown who this character actually is, as he is only heard in voice during the cartoon and never appears onscreen as far as we know. The cruiser he commands must either be docked inside the Rebels' asteroid base, or patrolling in space outside it. He is not the mustachioed Rebel officer who appears onscreen during the animated sequence—sources conflict as to whether that character is Ristt or Bob Hudsol, with Ristt appearing in the script.
  • Presumably due to the takeoff it had from Star Trek this is the only time a Starlog was used in the series' main cannon to narrorate the backstory of an adventure.
