"Kick the Ranat" was a song performed as a hit single by The Palpatones, a band formed by Greeata Jendowanian, Rystáll Sant, and Joh Yowza after the crime lord Jabba the Hutt was killed[1] in 4 ABY's Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon.[2] Because of Jendowanian's beautiful voice, the band became an intergalactic sensation[1]—also enjoying limited success in the Outer Rim Territories[3]—through "Kick the Ranat," before Sant left the band. The song shared its name with[1] the Ranat species.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
"Kick the Ranat" was introduced in "Who's Who in the Max Rebo Band," an article Rich Handley wrote for the sixty-seventh issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine,[1] which was published on April 15, 2003.[5] On January 21, 2014, Edward M. Erdelac wrote "Slugthrowers: An Overview of Popular Music and Musicians in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, Part 2," on StarWars.com. In that article, "Kick the Ranat" was again mentioned and was spelled as "Kick The Ranat."[1] This article assumes the original "Kick the Ranat" spelling from "Who's Who in the Max Rebo Band" is correct.
