- "Ready on Four! Kickback checking in. Over."
- ―Kickback checks in
Kickback was a clone trooper pilot who served in the Galactic Republic's Navy. Kickback served under the call sign of "Blue Four" in Blue Squadron, a Republic starfighter unit led by Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano. Blue Squadron participated in the Battle of Ryloth circa 22 BBY, to destroy Confederate Captain Mar Tuuk's blockade over the Twi'lek planet of Ryloth.
During the battle, Kickback accompanied fellow clone pilots Axe, Slammer, Tucker, and Group Two leader Swoop, while the squadron made their way toward Tuuk's command ship. However, Confederate Vulture droids attacked Blue Squadron, causing heavy damage to several of their fighters. Admiral Yularen and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker ordered Tano and her men to retreat; however, several of Blue Squadron's fighters have been shot down in the ongoing blaster fire, crippling Tano's squadron. Tano, and two out of the ten fighters that accompanied her, safely boarded the Venator-class Star Destroyer, Resolute, before it jumped to hyperspace.
Biography[]
After Techno Union Foreman Wat Tambor seized control of the planet Ryloth and its inhabitants, the Jedi Council dispatched General Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Commander Ahsoka Tano, to destroy the Separatist blockade surrounding the planet, under the command of Captain Mar Tuuk.
Ahsoka led a squadron, for the first time, taking command of Blue Squadron under the callsign Blue Leader. Kickback joined fellow pilots Axe, Slammer, Tucker and Swoop in his V-19 Torrent starfighter in fighting the advancing Vulture droids, and his squadron was able to cut a clear path to the lead ship. However, after Separatists reinforcements arrived out of hyperspace, Ahsoka disobeyed a direct order from both Admiral Yularen and Anakin to return and defend the Resolute. Tucker was shot down by a Vulture droid. Ahsoka finally complied, but by the time she returned to the Resolute, eight of her original ten clone pilots had died. Kickback and Swoop were the only two survivors.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
A clone trooper pilot with armor identical to Kickback's appeared in the web comic Hunting the Hunters, Part III, but so far has not been identified as him.
