Admiral Kiner was an officer serving the Old Republic in the years before the Declaration of a New Order. Although Kiner's rank suggests a Navy background, the Admiral was a counter-espionage specialist, and enjoyed a sufficient reputation that the name of the Renik branch within Imperial Intelligence's Bureau of Operations is believed to have been devised in homage: appropriately for a counter-intelligence office, the unusual-sounding appellation is actually a backwards spelling of Admiral Kiner's name.
